Why exedra?
The name comes from an ancient idea: a place where people gathered to exchange knowledge.
An exedra was a space designed for conversation, discussion and intellectual exchange — a seated recess where people sat down together rather than passing through.
We took that idea and brought it into the modern academic world.
exedra is a place where students share what they know, challenge what they don't understand, help one another and build something together.
Knowledge is built by those who contribute it.

Everything in exedra exists to keep knowledge moving from one person to the next.
Students
Bring knowledge into the exedra.
Community
Challenge and improve that knowledge.
Professors
Add expertise and guidance.
Bounties
Turn difficult questions into communal challenges.
The Unsolved
Preserves problems the community has not yet conquered.
Hall of Fame
Preserves the people who helped build the community.
The Academic Network
Students don't just consume content here.
Every note you publish, every review you leave and every question you answer becomes part of a permanent, public record of what you know and how you help others.
Contribute, don't scroll
Reputation is earned by adding to the network — uploading notes, reviewing work and answering questions.
Peer-verified quality
Every note is rated on clarity, accuracy and completeness by the students actually using it.
A record that compounds
Your XP, ranks and achievements form an academic portfolio that grows across every term.
Share what you know
Your notes become community resources.
Upload a page of revision notes and it enters the network: tagged by subject, topic and exam board, discoverable by the whole network, and rated by the people it actually helped.
- Upload JPG, PNG or PDF in seconds
- Tag subject, exam board, topic and sub-topic
- Earn +50 XP on publish, then more as students rate and save it

The leaderboard has not begun. No rankings exist yet.
Compete globally
Rankings that mean something.
Global, country and subject leaderboards turn contribution into standing. Not streaks. Not badges for logging in. Actual help, measured by the students who received it.
Progress matters
Most Improved is the leaderboard that changes lives.
Progress matters more than perfection. exedra ranks improvement separately, so the student climbing fastest gets recognised — not only the student who started ahead.
Rank movement
Improvement is measured as positions gained against your rank at the start of the period.
A separate board
Most Improved is ranked independently, so students starting from behind can still finish first.
Nothing to show yet
No students have been ranked because exedra has not launched. The first cohort sets the baseline.
The Ladder
24 academic ranks, from First Ink to The Academic Constellation.
Every rank is a permanent milestone with its own geometric emblem. You climb by contributing — not by logging in.
First Ink
Rank 1 — your first contribution
The Manuscript
Early ranks reward consistency
The Orrery
Mid ranks reward depth in a subject
The Academic Constellation
Rank 24 — the final ascent
Bounties & The Unsolved
Hard problems, backed by XP.
Post a problem you're stuck on and stake XP on it. Solve someone else's and claim the reward. Problems nobody cracks become The Unsolved — worth more, and worth remembering.
Stake XP on a question
Bounties carry a real XP reward. You can never solve your own — the network answers, not you.
The Unsolved
A bounty that survives enough distinct attempts and 7 days becomes Unsolved, and its reward rises 1.5×.
Breakthrough
Cracking an Unsolved problem earns a permanent Breakthrough achievement on your profile.
Clans
Compete as a study house, not just an individual.
Found a clan, design its emblem and recruit. Clan standing is the sum of member contribution, with weekly caps so no single member can carry the whole house.
- Custom emblem, motto and academic focus
- Weekly contribution caps keep standings honest
- Clan leaderboards run alongside the global board

Permanent recognition
Founding Students, Subject Pioneers and the Hall of Fame.
Some honours can only be earned once in the lifetime of the platform. They are numbered, permanent and awarded from real records — never granted retroactively.
Founding Students
The first 1,000 accounts carry a numbered founding mark on their profile forever.
Subject Pioneers
The first 100 qualifying contributors in each subject are recorded as that subject's pioneers.
Hall of Fame
Each subject is rendered as a classical order — Doric for Mathematics, Ionic for Literature, Corinthian for Biology and beyond.
Professors & verified achievements
An academic layer beyond the student body.
Professors apply for verification before they appear. Real-world achievements are backed by evidence and confirmed by a human reviewer before they count.
Professor profiles
Academic staff move from unverified to verified through review.
Verified achievements
Submit evidence for olympiads, publications and awards, then have it confirmed.
Account types
Student and professor roles, each with their own surface.
The XP economy
Every point traces back to a real contribution.
XP is awarded server-side with anti-abuse rules: no self-rating, no self-solving, no XP from demo content, and daily caps on repeatable actions.

Knowledge was never meant to stay alone.
It was meant to be questioned, explained, challenged, shared and passed on.
